Oils

All standard METAFRAM® blanks are supplied impregnated with mineral oils with a viscosity index greater than 95. However, to compensate for oil losses due to machining and handling, re-impregnation is mandatory according to the following procedure :
  • To remove any chips or dust, quickly wash the part with a volatile solvent (Heptane or Biosane ECO 60R), then dry.
  • Depending on its volume, immerse the part for one or two hours in an oil bath heated to 80 ̊C,
  • Allow the part to cool in this bath to ensure perfect saturation of the pores. Preferably use the same oil as the original, or, failing that, SAE 30-type transformer oils, which are easy to source.
